Bronze sculpture created using the "lost wax" method. The Battle of Chicaza tells the story of the Chickasaw attack on De Soto's army who had taken over the village of Chicaza near present-day Tupelo, Mississippi. De Soto narrowlly escaped with his life while losing 11 men, 57 horses, and 400 pigs he kept for emergency rations. Had the Chickasaws not broken off the attack, the party might well have been wiped out. |
